Westend School of Motoring joins Master Driver CPC Consortium

RTITB is proud to announce Westend School of Motoring has joined the Master Driver CPC Consortium, the UK’s largest Driver CPC Consortium. As a member of RTITB’s Master Driver CPC Consortium, Westend School of Motoring will now be providing Periodic Training to professional goods drivers and passenger carrying vehicle drivers in and around the local area. Since 2008 professional heavy goods vehicle and passenger carrying vehicle drivers have been required to undertake regular professional development training as part of a series of measures introduced across Europe to improve safety on all member states’ roads. New Drivers Could Face Second Driving Test After Two Years

As part of a series of restrictions being considered by the Government, new drivers could face a new driving test two years after qualifying. The Government is exploring a potential Graduated Driving Licence, which would see new drivers under the age of 24 facing serious restrictions. For two years after passing the driving test, they would: • Not be able to drive after dark or drive cars with larger engines • Not be able to drink alcohol before driving because of a lowered drink drive limit • Have to take another test at the end of the two-year probation period. RIDDOR REPORTING OF WORKPLACE ACCIDENTS The Health and Safety Executive are reminding everyone concerned that a RIDDOR report must be submitted for certain types of workplace accidents. RIDDOR puts duties on employers, the self-employed and people in control of work premises to report certain serious workplace accidents, occupational diseases and specified dangerous occurrences. The types of reportable injuries are listed below. Deaths and injuries If someone has died or has been injured because of a work-related accident this may have to be reported. Not all accidents need to be reported, other than for certain gas incidents, a RIDDOR report is required
